A private group stargazing trip, planned around your people.
A private group stargazing trip is a getaway we coordinate for your group at a dark-sky site, with lodging, meals and ground transport handled for you and optional astro and wellness add-ons your group chooses.
You bring the people. We bring the plan. Tell us who is coming, where you would like to go and what you want to do, and we build a getaway around your group. We can arrange this almost anywhere in the US, and we do not have to host. If you have a site in mind, we work with it. If you do not, we suggest one.
Our featured site is the Camp Howdy villa in the Zion and Kolob area of Utah, a private base with dark skies right outside the door. Other dark-sky sites are arranged on request.
Start planning
A night under the stars, for your group.
Private group stargazing works for many kinds of gatherings. Here are a few we plan for.
Teams and offsites
Bring your team somewhere the phones get put down. A guided night under the Milky Way, shared meals and a change of pace that actually resets people.
Mosques, churches, synagogues and temples
We welcome faith communities of every kind. A retreat or a single night away, planned with your group's needs and values in mind, in a setting that suits everyone.
Schools, universities and youth groups
A field trip that becomes a memory. Students learn to read the night sky with a guide, and we plan around your group's ages, needs and schedule.
Families, friends and celebrations
Birthdays, reunions, anniversaries and just-because. Gather the people you love and give them a night they will talk about for years.
The getaway, handled.
This is the core of every private group trip. Add-ons are optional and chosen by your group.

How we price. There are no public prices because every group is different. Your quote reflects your dates, group size, destination and the add-ons you choose.
Astro Night add-on
An astro-guide leads your group through the night sky. We bring one or more telescopes, give a short presentation, then stargaze for as long as your group likes. This is an add-on, not always included.
- Astro-guide for your group
- Telescope or telescopes
- A 30-minute presentation
- Stargazing for as long as you like
Wellness add-on
For multi-day retreats, we add wellness led by Anna: yoga, meditation and mindfulness, guided hikes, journaling and a walking labyrinth. A slower rhythm that lets your group settle in.
- Yoga led by Anna
- Meditation and mindfulness
- Guided hikes
- Journaling and a walking labyrinth

What is astrotourism?
Astrotourism is travel built around the night sky, from a single guided stargazing night to a full dark-sky retreat.

Why dark skies matter
It can be as simple as one guided stargazing night or as full as a multi-day dark-sky retreat. The goal is the same: to see the stars the way they look away from city lights.
- Dark skies let you see far more stars than a city sky
- The Milky Way is visible from many dark-sky sites in the US
- The Bortle scale rates how dark a sky is, from 1 (darkest) to 9
- Moon phase shapes what you can see, so we plan nights around it

Questions about planning a group stargazing trip.
Last reviewed October 2026How far ahead should we plan a group stargazing trip?
Start as early as you can. Lodging at dark-sky sites fills up, and the best nights depend on the moon, so earlier planning gives you more choice of dates and sites. Tell us your rough window and we will say what is realistic for your group.
What does Getaway coordination include?
Getaway coordination covers the essentials of a dark-sky trip: lodging, meals and ground transport to and from the site. We can arrange this almost anywhere in the US, and we do not have to host. Add-ons like Astro Night and Wellness are chosen separately by your group.
Is the astro-guide required?
No. The astro-guide is an add-on, not always included. Some groups just want the lodging, meals and dark skies and are happy to stargaze on their own. If you want a guided night with telescopes and a presentation, we add Astro Night to your quote.
How many telescopes do you bring?
We bring one or more telescopes depending on your group size, so everyone gets a turn at the eyepiece. Along with the telescopes, your astro-guide gives a short presentation and then points out the night sky for as long as your group likes.
What happens if it is cloudy?
We cannot control the weather, but we plan for it. Where the schedule allows, we build in a backup night or flexible timing so your group has a second chance at a clear sky. We will talk through the options for your dates when we quote.
What is the best time of year, and what about the moon?
Clear, moonless nights are best for seeing the Milky Way, so we plan around the moon phase. In the US, late spring through early fall often brings warm, clear nights, though good dark-sky viewing happens year-round. We will suggest the best window for your dates.
Can we do this near our city?
Yes, in most cases. We can arrange a dark-sky getaway almost anywhere in the US, and we do not have to host. If you have a site in mind, we work with it. If not, we suggest one, with our featured villa in the Zion and Kolob area of Utah.
What do the wellness add-ons look like?
For multi-day retreats, wellness is led by Anna and can include yoga, meditation and mindfulness, guided hikes, journaling and a walking labyrinth. It is a slower rhythm that helps your group settle in. You choose which pieces fit your group.
What is a typical retreat length?
Retreats can run one night or several. A single night suits a focused stargazing event, while a longer stay leaves room for a guided night or two plus wellness sessions. Tell us how much time your group has and we will shape the plan around it.
How do quotes work?
Every group is different, so we quote individually and do not publish prices. Your quote reflects your dates, group size, destination, lodging and the add-ons you choose. Reach out and we will send you a clear plan and price for your group.
Is this suitable for kids, seniors or people with accessibility needs?
Yes. We plan around your group, including children, older guests and people with accessibility needs. Tell us what your group needs and we will shape the site, activities and pace to fit. Every group is different, so we start from your list.
